Magnano established a R&D company put hydrophilic coating solutions into service of customers. However R&D activities have been going forward with development of different coating materials and common new generation products. Also R&D studies which are without hydrophilic coating, especially medical materials are proceeding goal-directed.
Hydrophilic Coating: The area of hydrophilic solutions usage and amount of use increase and become important due to increased interventional medical attention around the world. In line with this expectations Magnano developed different coating solutions for medical device surfaces like PVC, PU, Nylon and PEBAX and put into use of customers. Besides the studies for coating of material surfaces like PTFE and FEP are at final stage and these products will add to portfolio in the near future.
Hydrogels for Medical Applications: Medical applications being in the first place, hydrogels can be used for different fields. Development studies for PVP based biocompatible hydrogels with enhanced mechanical properties are at final stage and this product will add to portfolio in the near future.
Shape Memory PU: Shape memory polymers are smart polymers that become deformed in the event of initiator like temperature, pH, chemical material, ligth and electricity and have ability to bring first shape. This polymers can be used in different medical applications like bladder, cardiovascular stent, blood vessel and catgut. PUs have been using in medical applications, production of intracorporeal devices remained short or long term for years.
Biodegradable Materials: Biodegradable polymers became very important with exploring adaptivity to biomedical areas like tissue engineering and drug release systems. Physical properties, hydrolytic degradation profiles and biological compatibility make some polymers important among biomedical products. Biomaterials improved in last 50 years and nowadays it reaches 100 billion dolar market. Biomaterials attracted attension in different areas like medical devices, tissue engineering applications and drug release systems in recent years. When the researches are examined, biodegradable polymers are seen to take a part in various medical applications like drug release, catgut and tissue engineering due to mechanical strength, biodegradability and biocompatibility properties of them. In the line with this knowledge Magnano is going on studies about development of Magnesium and PLA based materials, especially as implants that have enhanced mechanical properties and biocompatibility.
